So last week was a bit of a clusterfuck since it was my first pick of the week, so I’ll try to keep it tight this time.
Trailer for 3, 2, 1…Frankie Goes Boom – Despite a pretty stupid title, this movie has The IT Crowd and Bridesmaids’ Chris O’Dowd, Sons of Anarchy and Undeclared’s Charlie Hunnman, and 127 Hours and Party Down’s Lizzie Caplan. Meaning get excited.
Oh, and there’s Ron Perlman cross-dressing.
Movie to check out this week – because ParaNorman is being released this week, why not revisit the very cool Coraline. Love the creepy, vibrant stop-motion world that Laika productions creates.
Breaking Bad submission of the week – This awesome concept art for a collector’s edition DVD box set. (via Dave Delisle)
Current Show To Check Out – Adult Swim’s Childrens Hospital is a hilarious 15-minute comedy that stars Ken Marino, Ron Huebel, Rob Cordry, Meghan Mullally, Lake Bell, Malin Akerman, Erinn Hayes, and THE FONZ, err BARRY ZUCKERKORN, err…Henry Winkler.
Season of TV to Get Started On – First season of Deadwood. I cruised through this season in a matter of days and fell in love with it. Ian McShane is amazing, as well as Timothy Olyphant, John Hawkes, and Molly Parker. Oh, they also swear a lot.
New Albums To Check Out – Don’t actually check this out, I just wanted to say that the Insane Clown Posse is dropping a new album, Might Death Pop, this week…
Song of the Week – “Bloody Murdah” by Riitz featuring Tech N9ne. It’s what I would expect from the two: fast spitting. And I’ll eat that up every time. Plus the more exposure Rittz gets, the better.
Classic Album to Check Out – Alopecia by Why? I love this album so much, and who would have thought that a whiney alternative-emo-pop-rap group could be this great?
THANK GOD THE OLYMPICS ARE OVER. USA! USA! USA!
Game of the week – Yankees vs. Rangers, TONIGHT at 7. This is the first in a playoff-implication-loaded four-game series, and has the most intriguing pitching matchup. It’s the Yankees’ trusted ace Sabbathia vs. the Rangers newest innings-eater Dempster.
Player to watch – WILDCARD! I’m going with Metta World Peace because he is surrounded with all this talent in Kobe, Dwight Howard, Steve Nash, and POW POW Pau Gasol. With the overkill media swarm this surely will create, he’ll either be focused on another ring or batshit insane.
Borderlands 2 Countdown – 34 Days.
Gaming news – OH MY GOD. Madden ’13 has PHYSICS. Will these new so-called physics actually be noticeable in the most overhyped gaming franchise? Find out tomorrow, as EA releases the demo. FOOTBALL.
Game to dust off – NBA Street Vol. 2. With its awesome soundtrack and addicting gameplay, this is a classic game and one of the best basketball games of all time. Also, because of the Lakers super team, I think it’s appropriate.
